Donate Bikes and Gear

Donate Your Bike

What do you do with bike donations?

We are very appreciative of your donations of bicycles and bike gear. All of the programs we run at Neighborhood Bike Works depend on donated bikes, parts, and accessories. Every year our youth take home bikes through our Earn-A-Bike and Graduate Level programs or use them for our ride-based programs like Ride Club and Monthly Group Rides. Other bikes we sell at subsidized rates in our retail shop, helping more adults have reliable transportation so that they can get to work, school or to participate in the community.

When can i drop off my bike or gear donation?

You can drop off your donations anytime the bike shop is open - during retail service hours (Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 12 to 4) or during Bike Church (Tuesday/Thursday evenings 6:30 to 9 pm). You do not need to call ahead or make an appointment to drop off a donation during these times.

what donations do you take?

Please scroll down for more info on bikes and gear we can and cannot accept. Please feel free to take some photos of your bike and/or gear donations and email them to aaron@neighborhoodbikeworks.org to find out if it’s something we can use.

Do you pick up bikes?

Sorry, we are unable to pick up bikes at this time.

Do you have other donation drop-off points?

Sorry, we don't have any other drop off points. Let us know if your office or shop is willing to be a drop point for bike donations for NBW.

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes, we are a 501c3 nonprofit and will offer you a donation receipt for your records.

Do you buy bikes?

Sorry, we do not buy bikes.

Can I trade in my old bike for a new one?

Sorry, we do not do trades.

Do you do bike drives?

We love it when volunteers and others do bike drives on our behalf. We offer several types of support for groups that are interested in doing bike drives as a service project. Get in touch with us if you are interested!
