Neighborhood Bike Works provides educational, recreational, and career-building opportunities for urban youth in underserved neighborhoods in greater Philadelphia through bicycling; it also promotes cycling as a healthy, affordable, environment-friendly form of transportation.
Since 1996, Neighborhood Bike Works has introduced over 5,000 young Philadelphians to the joys and freedom of cycling in the city. Our free or low-cost youth programs, including Earn-A-Bike, Ride Club, and Leadership & Advanced Mechanics, reach over 500 youth each year. We also offer programs for adults, including Bike Church, a free workshop space for adults to buy and refurbish used bikes, and Adult Bike Repair Classes.
Give to NBW
Earlier this year, supporters like you donated to literally build the walls and set up our new space, expenses on top of our annual budget. Now, we’re asking you to donate so we can fill it with youth and opportunity in 2016.
We Accept Bike Donations!
Bike donations make our programs runs! Please get in touch if you have a bike, bike parts, or other items that could get a second life at NBW. Click above for details on how and what to donate.
As the weather has cooled, we've reduced our Mel's Community Shop hours until April 1st. "Winter Hours" are Tuesday - Friday 2:00 - 6:00 PM. Saturdays: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM. Closed Sundays and Mondays.
Next Adult Bike Repair Class
Our next Adult Repair Class begins November 7th! Join us on Mondays from 6:30-9:00PM to learn how to adjust your brakes, replace your chain, and repair your headset. Registration is open.
