Monthly Group Rides & Events

Once a month, NBW selects a fun and interesting ride for graduates, parents, and current class participants to add some extra miles on their wheels! It is a great way to get out and explore our city, learn something new, and stay connected with Neighborhood Bike Works. Past trips include mountain biking at Belmont plateau, crossing the Ben Franklin bridge to Camden, a historical bike tour in Old City, and visiting green spaces such as Cobbs Creek, John Heinz Wildlife Refuge, and Bartram's Garden. The ride offers graduates an opportunity to earn hours, redeemable for bikes, bike parts, and accessories.

Youth must have completed Earn-A-Bike, Ride Club, Summer Camp, or Freedom to Ride in order to participate. Space is often limited to 15 youth per ride, and we require all youth to have a Monthly Ride Consent Form signed by their parent/guardian in order to participate.

During the winter months, we host indoor events at our West Philadelphia Shop, such as movie screenings, arts and crafts opportunities, guest speakers, mechanics workshops, and more!

For rides, please meet at Neighborhood Bike Works with your bicycle and helmet (or borrow them from us) at 10AM! Don't be late or you may miss the ride! We will return and dismiss from Neighborhood Bike Works at 2PMIndoor events run from 10AM to 2PM.

Come join us on our first ride of the year to Philadelphia Zoo! Neighborhood Bike Works will provide admission to a limited amount of people, and offer it first to those who attend Drop-In and our monthly February event. Helmets, bikes, and water bottles are available to borrow for the ride (but you are welcome to bring your own!). Please wear clothing suited for biking as well as walking around outdoors on a potentially chilly March day.

Returning to school after spring break is TOUGH. After a week of sitting in desks, being quiet, and staying indoors, join NBW on a bike ride to the Belmont Plateau! There, we will explore the Plateau's off-road trails together, and connect with the outdoors again. As always - helmets, bikes, and water bottles are provided for the ride, and please wear clothing suited for biking and outdoor activities according to the day's weather.

Monthly Rides & Events are FREE opportunities offered to graduates of Neighborhood Bike Works' Earn-A-Bike, Ride Club, Summer Camp, or Freedom to Ride youth programs.

Youth MUST have successfully completed Earn-A-Bike, Ride Club, Summer Camp, or Freedom to Ride in order to be considered a "graduate" and participate in Group Rides & Events. If you're child has not turned in an updated NBW Youth Application recently, please fill one out today. Parents/Guardians MUST sign a Consent Form which will give permission for the youth to join us on any ride during the year. Every month we will send out an email about the upcoming ride or event. You may RSVP through that email, or CLICK HERE TO RSVP!
