Drop-In sessions are held once a week for our graduates to continue learning and practicing bike mechanic skills. Youth must have completed Earn-A-Bike, Ride Club, Summer Camp, or Freedom to Ride in order to participate. Youth will be able to use the skills they learned in our entry level programs to continue work on the bike they've earned, begin work on a new project, or help with tasks around the shop to earn additional credit hours. These credit hours will allow them to purchase new bikes, parts, and accessories.
Through participation in Drop-In, youth stay engaged in our programs and begin to form lasting, positive relationships with our generous volunteers and staff. Many youth are able to advance their knowledge, which gives them further opportunities to work with us through internships, apprenticeships, and summer jobs.
Drop-In is offered on Saturdays from 10AM - 2PM at our West Philadelphia Shop throughout the year. Once a month, we do a Monthly Ride and close Drop-In, so please check our schedule. Occasionally, we close the shop during the holidays. Please call to make sure we are open.
Drop-In is free to all participants, ages 8-18, as all costs are covered by Neighborhood Bike Works and partner organizations.
HOW TO SIGN UP:
Youth must have successfully completed Earn-A-Bike, Ride Club, Summer Camp, or Freedom to Ride in order to be considered a "graduate" and participate in Drop-In. Youth do not need to sign up, but will be asked to have a new NBW Youth Application Waiver filled out each year.
