Thc Neighborhood Bike Works is offering bike classes for children living in the Haddington section of West Philadelphia. Participants must live within 52nd and 63rd Streets and between the north side of Market Street to Girard Avenue. Upon completion of the seven-week program participants receive a bicycle helmet and bike lock. There is no cost to participate in the program. The classes are offered to boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 14. Thc classes meet twice a week - Tuesdays and Thursdays - from 4 PM to 6 PM. Classes are given on thc campus of the University of Pennsylvania at the Neighborhood Bike Works. Transportation will be provided from Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 5732 Race Street. Participants must be at the church by 3:30 PM on class days. Participants will be returned to their homes after class. If interested, contact Gregory King, project coordinator at 215-476-6576 to register for the program. Parent or legal guardian written permission is required.
